Being young and a citizen in the Mediterranean

The first annual meeting "Med Youth. Being young and a citizen in the Mediterranean", organised on 9 and 10 October 2015 in Paris, laid the foundations for a Euro-Mediterranean dialogue on youth.

The first
meeting

The first "Med Youth" meeting was held on 9 and 10 October 2015 in Paris. This inaugural meeting, organised in partnership with the Master "International Cooperation Africa Middle East" (CIAMO) of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, allowed to establish first contacts and to launch a collective reflection on 4 key themes for youth: 
- access to employment and training for young people, 
- the free movement of young people in the Mediterranean area, 
- the role of culture and the arts for the younger generation
- civic, social and political participation. 
The first meeting

The meeting was attended by 92 participants representing 11 countries.

A series of workshops allowed participants to reflect collectively and to share findings and experiences on these common issues that affect young Mediterranean people today, to promote contacts and networking, to enhance the value of projects led by young people and to raise awareness among the general public thanks to the testimonies of participants from 6 countries: Libya, France, Tunisia, Spain, Palestine, Syria. This public debate, which closed the meeting, was held at the Université Panthéon Sorbonne Paris 1.
